RUG SHAPE
Bold and Geometric
The shape of the rug should be very geometric to balance out and reflect the Aztec like symbols/motifs. The shape of the rug came from mindless doodles.

TEX-MEX LIVING ROOM
with a mid-century twist
To achieve this look, I chose to place the symbols in a diagonal line to almost “point” to something. If you look at the floor plan, you’ll see that the rug is in a position where the symbols are in a line pointed to the fireplace. The tile at the bottom of the fireplace is a mosaic tile design that resembles the rugs symbols.

SAMPLE BOARD
Vibrant with Textures
In the beginning of this assignment I was assigned a specific theme; Tex-Mex. This style is seen as a balance between Texas and Mexican interior décor. A mix of bold colours, rustic furnishings and Native American influences. The very basic Mexican designs have almost an electric feel, very bold and powerful. You can easily identity it when you see it. The designs consist of bright colours, both warm and cool and always has a presence of symbols. The symbols resemble Aztec symbols. I chose four warm toned colours that were seen often in the Tex-Mex world that are very bright and bold. I did more research to find that many of the Tex-Mex rugs are symmetrical and wanted to keep that factor in my design.
